Cara Amica Club

Records of the Cara Amica Club, including: minutes; constitutions; correspondence; membership lists; lists of presidents and doll winners; photographs; and clippings. The Cara Amica Club began as a charitable organization for community enterprise, operating in Saskatoon. It also provided gifts (mainly cigarettes) for the Armed forces serving in the Second World War. After the war, the Club's chief activity was dressing bride and bridal attendant dolls to be raffled for charity.

Harry Link (1918-2002) was a hardware merchant in Lucky Lake and a real estate salesman in Saskatoon. In 1961 he was elected president of the Saskatchewan Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) and served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the Saskatoon City constituency, 1964-1967. Joan Link (1921-1980) met her husband while he was in the Royal Canadian Air Force in England. She was very supportive in her husband's career. Interviewed by A.M. Nicholson, August 29-31, 1978. Transcript includes photographs.
