Blumenhof and other communities in Saskatchewan

Images accumulated and used by John Ens of Regina, Saskatchewan mainly during his residence on the family farm near Blumenhof, Saskatchewan and while serving overseas during World War II. The majority of photographs relating to Blumenhof were taken in the 1920s and 1930s. John Ens was the son of Franz and Anna Ens. His siblings included Bernhard, Franz, Aganetha, Peter, Katherine, Anna, Isaac, Jacob, Corny, and Helen.

Margaret L. Cunningham of Kipling, Saskatchewan, a farmer born in 1881, recalls her experiences homesteading in the Kipling district from 1914.

Peter Gemby of Estevan, Saskatchewan, a miner born in 1907, recalls his experiences as a miner at Taylorton mine and his involvement in the Estevan strike in 1931.

Maria German of Estevan, Saskatchewan, born in 1886, recalls her experiences as a Ukrainian immigrant in the Estevan district.

Peter Kieth of Kipling, Saskatchewan, a farmer born in 1884, discusses his homesteading experiences in the Kipling district and with comments about community life, World War II and the Depression.

Jean Moroz of Estevan, Saskatchewan, a farmer born in 1910, recalls her experiences of farm life in the Estevan district and involvement in the Ukrainian Farm Labour Temple Association.

Louise I.H. Pickett of Regina, Saskatchewan, a homemaker born in 1885, recalls her experiences living in Moose Jaw from 1900 including many stories about social events.
