A Prairie Boy Remembers...

Autobiography of Ralph Edon Moyer, who was born and raised in southern Saskatchewan. His father, Simon Menno Moyer, owned and operated a travelling circus. After serving overseas during World War II, Moyer pursued a career in the Canadian military and with Transport Canada.

Bird, Dick - Home Movies

Home movies: 1) Scenes of the parade, held on Monday, October 21, 1940, to promote the world premier showing of the movie NORTH WEST MOUNTED POLICE at the Capitol Theatre in Regina. The footage includes shots of Madeleine Carroll riding in the Lieutenant-Governor's carriage with Archibald Peter McNab and Mrs. McNab; shots of Robert Preston riding in a car; shots of floats with the Royal Canadian Mounted police, North Mounted Police and North American Indians being represented. The footage is shot from a location on Albert Street. 2) Scenes of men viewing an oil well pumping oil. 3) Scenes of people skating, and boys playing hockey, on outdoor skating rinks, one of which was located at Central Park. 4) Scenes of a parade, possibly a Victory Bond Parade held in June, 1941. The footage is shot from a location on Victoria Street. Includes shots of high school bands, military bands, floats urging people to buy war bonds, and lines of marching air force, navy and army personel. 5) Scenes of people at an enclosed oil well derrick. 6) Scenes of people at a lake swimming and boating. 7) Exterior shots of an unidentified huse and backyard flower garden. 8) Scenes of a military parade, possibly the Victory Day Parade held on August 2, 1941, consisting air force, army and navy personel. It concludes at the Regina Exhibition race track with speeches and music, from a raised platform, for people sitting in the stands. 9) Scenes of men working at an oil well drilling rig. 10) Scenes of people attending the November 11, 1941, Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Cenotaph in Victoria Park in Regina. Bird, Dick and Ada, 1892-2003

Blumenhof and other communities in Saskatchewan

Images accumulated and used by John Ens of Regina, Saskatchewan mainly during his residence on the family farm near Blumenhof, Saskatchewan and while serving overseas during World War II. The majority of photographs relating to Blumenhof were taken in the 1920s and 1930s. John Ens was the son of Franz and Anna Ens. His siblings included Bernhard, Franz, Aganetha, Peter, Katherine, Anna, Isaac, Jacob, Corny, and Helen.

Don't You Know It's 40 Below?

Second Edition of the publication entitled, Don't You Know It's 40 Below?, written by Jack Kates (formerly Jack Katz). Published by Seal Press in Cypress, California. The publication contains Kates' recollections of growing up as a Jew in the village of Sheho, Saskatchewan in the 1930s and 1940s. His father operated Katz General Store.

POW - Behind Canadian Barbed Wire

The 2004 edition of a publication written by David J. Carter and published by Eagle Butte Press Co. The book was originally published in 1980 under the title "Behind Canadian Barbed Wire". The publication relates to alien, refugee and prisoner of war camps in Canada from 1914-1920 and 1939-1946 and includes names of prisoners of war who died while under Canadian control and names of prisoners of war buried in Canada.

Province With A Heart: Celebrating 100 Years in Saskatchewan

Publication on the history of Saskatchewan consisting of photographs and narrative from the province's two major daily newspapers, the Saskatoon StarPhoenix and the Regina Leader-Post. Published to commemorate Saskatchewan's Centennial in 2005 by CanWest Books Inc., a subsidiary of CanWest Glocal Communications. Publication consists of twelve chapters of history in chronological order with special chapters on the Depression and World War II.
