Scope and content

Item is a commercially-produced copy of the episode entitled, "Boxcar Rebellion" of the documentary television series Turning Points of History, produced by Barna-Alper Productions Inc. and Connections Productions Resources Inc. The episode chronicles the unrest among relief camp workers in western Canada leading to and during the On To Ottawa trek in the spring of 1935 and the Regina Riot of July 1, 1935. Included is interview footage of Trek participants Matt Shaw, Bobby Jackson, Rudy Fedorowich, Jack Geddes, and Robert 'Doc' Savage; William R. Herridge, nephew of Rt. Hon. R. B. Bennett; Lil Greene, member of Bennett's stenography staff; and Alex Hill, member of the Regina Police Service at the Regina Riot and friend of Cst. Charles Miller who was killed in the Riot.

Executive producers for Turning Points in History were Laszlo Barna and Frank Savoie. The episode was written and directed by Barry Stevens and Steven Silver; produced by Tom Perlmutter; edited by Manfred Becker; and narrated by Cedric Smith. Turning Points in History was produced in association with, and aired on, History Television. Copyright is held by Episode 13 Productions Inc. and 505111NB Inc.
