Award presentation for highest sawing accuracy

At a banquet held in Hudson Bay, Hon. Alex G. Kuziak, Minister of the Saskatchewan Department of Natural Resources, presents a cheque to Alfred Lake of Lake & McConnell lumber contractors, Glaslyn. Lake received the award for having the highest sawing accuracy amongst Saskatchewan Timber Board contractors. Surrounding Lake and Kuziak (L to R) are: Hon. John H. Official opening of Otosquen Road

Views of events marking the official opening of the Otosquen Road, a gravel highway connecting Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan to The Pas, Manitoba, held July 7, 1963. The Road was subsequently designated as Saskatchewan Highway 109. 01: A pancake breakfast on Hudson Bay's main street prior to the official opening. The breakfast for 700 people was prepared by the Saskatchewan Department of Natural Resources Construction Branch and the Hudson Bay Lions' Club. 02: Government dignitaries and chamber of commerce representatives pose during a break from the cavalcade from Hudson Bay en route to The Pas for the second official opening ceremony. 03: Federal and provincial government officials pose after cutting down the final tree barricading the road during the opening ceremony (L to R): Hon. John H. Brockelbank, Saskatchewan Provincial Treasurer; John Turner, parliamentary secretary for the federal Department of Northern Affairs; J.B. Carrol, Manitoba Welfare Minister; Bud Simpson, Member of Parliament for the Churchill electoral district; Bert Flatt, federal government engineer; Hon. Eiling Kramer, Minister of the Saskatchewan Department of Natural Resources; and Stanley Korchinski, Member of Parliament for the Mackenzie electoral district. The ceremony was held outside of Hudson Bay. 04: Two framed paintings created by Hudson Bay artist Alfred Hanley were presented to Hon. Woodrow S. Lloyd, Premier of Saskatchewan, at a banquet hosted by the Hudson Bay Chamber of Commerce prior to the official opening ceremony. Shown are (L to R): Hon. Lloyd; Hon. J.H. 01: Presentation of the Saskatchewan Timber Board's special awards of two hundred dollars were made in Hudson Bay to each of three lumber contractors who tied for first place in sawing efficiency.
