The Road was subsequently designated as Saskatchewan Highway 109. 01: A pancake breakfast on Hudson Bay's main street prior to the official opening. The breakfast for 700 people was prepared by the Saskatchewan Department of Natural Resources Construction Branch and the Hudson Bay Lions' Club. 02: Government dignitaries and chamber of commerce representatives pose during a break from the cavalcade from Hudson Bay en route to The Pas for the second official opening ceremony. 03: Federal and provincial government officials pose after cutting down the final tree barricading the road during the opening ceremony (L to R): Hon.
