Administrative history

In March 1882, James Deakin Hall (1854-1936) formed a partnership with Skene Lowe (1856-1920) in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The photographers promoted themselves as taking images of First Nations people, horses, cattle, machinery and equipment, buildings, as well as studio portraits and landscapes. The firm also produced a series of photographs along the C.P.R. (Canadian Pacific Railway). In October 1887, Hall opened a studio in Vancouver, and the partnership with Lowe was dissolved in May 1892 after Hall became the sheriff of Vancouver.
