Jacqui Shumiatcher, wife of Morris Shumiatcher, donated certain records to the Regina office, Saskatchewan Archives in five accessions between 2006 and 2016: R2006-252 (August 17, 2006); R2006-262 (September 7, 2006); 2007-132 (March 1, 2007); 2012-195 (July 31, 2012) and 2016-093 (June 28, 2016).

Scope and content

This series consists of records created, accumulated and used by Morris Shumiatcher of Regina, Saskatchewan relating to his activities as a civil servant, lawyer, public speaker, writer, Honorary Consul General for Japan, Dean of the Consular Corps for Saskatchewan and member of numerous professional organizations at the local, provincial and national level. Personal records relating to Shumiatcher's post-secondary education; his family, friends and colleagues; vacations and travel; his personal legal battles; and his involvement with numerous arts and cultural organizations are also included.

This series consists of seventeen sub-series: Office - Personal; Office - Investment; Publications; Professional Societies; Reference; Writings; Writings: Published and Unpublished; Cases I Have Tried Client Files; Address and Speech Reference Subject Files; Speech and Article Indices/Files; Subjects from Magazine and Newspaper Articles Index; Individuals and Organizations; Correspondence; Personal Legal Battles; University Studies; Japan Times Contest Trip to Japan; and Legal Practice.

The types of records included are correspondence; memoranda; publications; newspaper clippings; legal documents; certificates; diplomas; yearbooks; manuscripts; notes; subject/research files; speeches; photographs; sound recordings; and objects.
