Scope and content

For many years, the Saskatchewan Government operated a Saskatchewan Prospector's School in Lac la Ronge, especially for Aboriginal persons, to train them for careers in prospecting. Here an instructor is lecturing to a class of students, 7 of which are shown. On the blackboard one can see notations such as: Magnetic surveying, Rock types, Use of Geigerian field, Radioactivity, Mining areas in Saskatchewan. On a table behind the students, in the foreground of the photo, one can see a number of rock and mineral samples.

In this photo of a class at the Lac la Ronge Prospectors School, 14 unidentified aboriginal students can been seen listening to their instructor (not shown). On several tables, one notices rock and mineral samples. The Saskatchewan Government has been involved now, for many decades, in training Aboriginal persons for useful careers, in initiatives such as this one.
