Speaking Appearances and Workshops series

This series consists of correspondence, speeches, notes, invitations and agendas related to speeches delivered by Gruending and to workshops, seminars, forums and conferences that he participated in during the 1980s through 2019. Video footage from an event sponsored by the Canadian School of Public Service (2006) and an episode of the television program Listen Up (October 5, 2008), discussing the role of religious faith in voter choices, are also included.

This series consists of telephone directories (phone books) for Saskatchewan communities issued by the Bell Telephone Company of Canada; the Saskatchewan Department of Railways, Telegraphs and Telephones; the Saskatchewan Department of Telephones; Saskatchewan Government Telephones; and Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel).

Directories for 1905 to 1991 are located in collection R-733. Directories for 1992 to 1998 are located in collection R-1341. Directories for 1999 to 2006 are located in collection R-1098.1. Directories for 2007 onwards are located in S 78.

Freelance Writing series

This series consists of records created by Gruending in his freelance writing career, including reviews, poetry, radio scripts, speeches, columns and articles for newspapers and online publications, as well as related correspondence, memos and notes.

Also included in this series are the draft manuscript, reviews and promotional material for Gruending's book Gringo: Poems and Journals from Latin America, published in 1983.

Additional Publications series

This series consists of correspondence, outlines, notes, drafts and other records related to 5 books that Dennis Gruending assembled, drafted, edited, published, and later promoted: The Middle of Nowhere (1996); Great Canadian Speeches (2004); Truth to Power (2008); Pulpit and Politics (2011); and Speeches that Changed Canada (2018).

Audio recordings of Gruending’s appearances on radio shows The Sunday Edition (CBC) and Masala Canada (RCI) are also included.

Other Employment and Projects series

This series consists of records relating to a variety of contracts and special projects Dennis Gruending undertook over the years, including his work in communications for the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (1990-1995), teaching television production in Vietnam (1996), and as Media Relations Coordinator for the Canadian Labour Congress (2008-2014). Other projects included: providing editorial assistance in the writing of the book An Honourable Calling, by Alan Blakeney, as well as communicating on behalf of the family, following Blakeney’s death, in 2011; research and writing for Oxfam Canada and the Canadian Wheat Board; and preparing reports and remarks for various agencies and public officials.

Other works series

This series consists of records created, accumulated and used by Larry and Dorothy Easton of Regina, Saskatchewan, as part of book collaborations, associated promotional events, and various other activities. Most of the records were created between 2002 and 2017 but the series also includes scans of photographic slides created in the 1970s through 1990s. The images were saved primarily in JPEG and TIF format. Cameras used include a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 60D, with an 18 - 200 mm lens. Scanners used include an Epson V600 Photo.

Contents of the series include digital images of Saskatchewan locations and structures, landscapes, plants and animals. Featured buildings and locations include: Addison Sod House Historic Site, in Kindersley; Big Beaver; Big Muddy; Churchill River; Clearwater River; Duck Mountain; Fort Battleford; Fort Carleton; Fond du Lac River; Foster River; Gravelbourg; the Great Sandhills, near Sceptre; Humboldt; Indian Head; Lebret; Lumsden; Moose Jaw; Muenster; Nipekamew Sand Cliffs, near La Ronge; Peebles; Regina; Robsart; Rouleau; Scotsguard; Stinen; Val Marie; Wood Mountain; and the Red Deer Valley Badlands, in Alberta. Additional general subjects include grain elevators, pictographs, rattlesnakes, flora and fauna. There are photos of churches in Arran, Patunak, Pelican Narrows, and Southend, as well as buildings in Manitou Beach, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina, and Watrous, which may have been created for and/or used in the books "Legacy of Worship: Sacred Places in Rural Saskatchewan" (2014) and "Architecture of Saskatchewan: A Visual Journey" (2013).

Along with the digital photographs, the series contains several multimedia presentation files, promoting the books "Legacy of Stone" and "Legacy of Worship" and showcasing photographs from northern and southern Saskatchewan. These were saved as Microsoft PowerPoint files, PDFs and as standalone Microsoft Windows presentation applications. There are also documents showing maps and notes associated with the Fond du Lac River, saved as Microsoft Word and PDF files.

Clay Family series

This series consists of records created, accumulated and used by members of the Archibald F. Clay family, who resided mainly in Regina, Saskatchewan. The series includes correspondence between members of the Clay family and with relatives in France; photographs; diplomas; certificates; passports; daily journals and greeting cards. Also included are records created and accumulated by Pierre (Pat) Clay and his wife, Elsie (Barr) Clay, while serving with the Canadian Armed Services during World War II. Pat Clay served with the Royal Canadian Army Pay Corps and the 13th Field Regiment of the Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) while Elsie Clay served as a nurse with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps (RCAMC). Cartoons and illustrations drawn by Pat Clay are located primarily in file 12; they also appear in the photograph album (GM-PH-3111) and on letters and greeting cards, etc located in various files in the series.

Morris Shumiatcher - Personal series

This series consists of personal records created, accumulated and used by Morris Shumiatcher of Regina, Saskatchewan. A small volume of records created and accumulated by his wife, Jacqui Shumiatcher, after his death in 2004, consisting mainly of condolence letters, is included.

The series consists of eight sub-series: Shumiatcher Family; Scrapbooks and Photograph Album; Personal Library; Interviews; Birthday Celebrations; Awards/Certificates; Death and Condolences; and Personal - Various.

The types of records included are correspondence; scrapbooks; yearbooks; photographs; publications; certificates; membership cards; and sound recordings.

Legacy of Worship: Sacred Places in Rural Saskatchewan series

This series consists of records created, accumulated and used by Larry and Dorothy Easton of Regina, Saskatchewan, in the creation of digital photographic images that appeared in the 2014 book "Legacy of Worship: Sacred Places in Rural Saskatchewan", written by Margaret Hryniuk and Frank Korvemaker. The digital photos were created primarily between 2008 and 2013, but there are also scanned copies of photographic slides created in the late-1970s through mid-2000s. Images are primarily in JPEG and TIF format. Cameras used included a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the scanner used (to 2001) was an Epson V600 Photo.

For the "Legacy of Worship" project, Larry and Dorothy Easton photographed numerous churches, synagogues, and other places where religious activities took place throughout Saskatchewan.
