Documentary: This film looks at the grasslands region of southern Saskatchewan being proposed as the 29th national park of Canada. It describes fauna and flora of the proposed area and issues of concern, to people who live in the area, that relate to the setting up of the park. Includes scenes of the town of Mankota, ranching actvities, close up shots of many of the plants and animals that inhabit the area and many of the different types of landforms in the proposed park region. Compilation Film Report: This series of NFB reports on animals is presented in three divisions each under its own sub-title. "Roll-Call in the Rockies" depicts some mountain wildlife including Montain Goats, Deer, and Bears. "Zoo Comes to Class" shows a number of exotic animals in a classroom setting with children. "It's a Dog's Life" tells about the operations of the Canadian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

BIG DAY FOR BEECHY

Documentary: This is an English language version of the film A BIG DAY FOR BEECHY. Highlights the rebuilding of the 94 mile Canadian National Conquest subdivision railroad branchline to Beechy. It was the first railroad line reconstruction project to be funded by a special government program. Includes scenes of railroad construction equipment rebuilding the railbed and of the town of Beechy. Included are portions of interviews with men from the construction crew who worked on the project and with people who lived in the area expressing confidence that the reconditioned railroad would ensure the area's future. Documentary: Calgary's famous Stampede is brought to the screen in this film. We first see the Broncos on Southern Alberta ranges where they roamu ntil rounded up for the big show. At the Stampede, cowboys are shown taking part in the wild horse riding contest and the calf roping contest, riding a Bramah bull and bulldogging a steer.
