The publication is based on notes taken by Dawson while a member of a party assigned by the Canadian Government to obtain information regarding certain proposed routes for the Canadian Pacific Railway in May, 1879.

File consists of:

Photocopied deed of land that is dated April 11, 1883 and issued to Regina Mary Rowell of Regina, North-West Territories, by Richard B Angus, et al. for lot number twenty-three in block number two hundred eighty-two in the town site of Regina.

Correspondence written by Regina Mary (Rowell) Craig of Fiske, Saskatchewan to Mrs. Austin Bothwell of Regina, dated August 18, 1932, concerning the deed of land issued in her name in 1883 and her claim that the City of Regina revoked the deed. Correspondence with similar content was also written on June 8, 1953 by Craig (then of New Westminster, British Columbia) to a Mrs. Robson.

Two copies of an incomplete letter, written on Hudson's Bay Company letterhead, addressed from Fort Pelly district in 1883 to Miss Madeleine Torrance. Reference is made to building a sod house, estimating timber berths, the Leech Lake colony and the names "Stanfield" and "Tarbolton". Also included is correspondence, from August of 1973, between Allan Turner, Provincial Archivist, Saskatchewan Archives Board and the donor of the letter, Alan Powell which gives added information about the letter of 1883.
