One Survivor's Message: Don't Kill Yourself sub-series

Television documentary examining youth suicide, including the factors that lead teens to contemplate suicide, and the events leading to and following the suicide attempt. Primary subject is David, who after attempting to commit suicide was able to turn his life around and is urging others to seek help rather that ending their lives. When aired on television, a live youth forum and panel discussion, hosted by journalist Ann Medina, preceded the documentary. Records include: a dub of an offline master; master playback including an introduction to the live forum; B rolls; unedited "streeter" interviews of teens; unedited interviews of David; and promotional pamphlets.

Remembering Tom sub-series

Documentary of a family from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan coping with the loss of Tom, a young man who committed suicide two years earlier. Includes interviews of Tom's parents, Pat and John, and his siblings Josh and Rachel who discuss Tom's childhood, the factors that may have lead to his suicide, and their journies through the grief process. Documentary of Patrick Bird, an actor and musician formerly of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, who survived childhood sexual abuse, parental neglect, life in the foster care system, alcohol and drug abuse, and multiple suicide attempts. Includes interviews of Bird, two of his foster parents, a former teacher, and musician Keith Secola. Introduction by the documentary's writer/producer Doug Cuthand.
