Delegates of the Saskatchewan Peace Council, Premier T.C. Douglas, several cabinet ministers and many MLAs

Series of 6 photographs showing highlights from a meeting between delegates of the Saskatchewan Peace Council, Premier T.C. Douglas, several cabinet ministers and many MLAs.

The meeting was chaired by R.H. Woof (MLA for Turtleford) and the peace lobby was led by Mabel B. Hanway (chair of the Saskatchewan peace Council). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the world appeal against the preparations for atomic war. Shortly afterwards the Saskatchewan Legislature unanimously adopted a resolution calling for the Government of Canada to push for world disarmament by mutual consent, including the abolition of the use, possession and manufacture of not only all nuclear weapons, but all weapons of mass destruction. [For additional details of the meeting see the May 1955 issue of "Peace Review", p. 16. ]
