Cookbooks collected by Mary Ewert of Herbert, Saskatchewan. Ewert immigrated from Oklahoma to Canada in the 1920s and settled with her husband, Leonard Ewert, in the area around Gouldtown, Saskatchewan. The Ewerts later moved to Herbert, where Leonard farmed and operated the movie theatre. Mary Ewert was well known in the Herbert community as an excellent cook and baker. These cookbooks were part of her collection of approximately 50 cookbooks.

Lewis, who worked as a chef in various hotels and cafes in Saskatchewan, and operated hotels in Wadena and Wynyard, Saskatchewan (The Hotel Wynyard) with his wife, May (McCormack) Lewis. .
