This fonds consists of records created, accumulated and used from 1864 to 1923 by Amédée E. and Henriette Forget relating mainly to their years in the North-West Territories and Saskatchewan.
The records pertain mainly to Amédée E. Forget's career as Lieutenant-Governor of the North-West Territories; Lieutenant- Governor of Saskatchewan and Indian Commissioner for Manitoba and the North-West Territories. The records consist primarily of addresses of welcome and/or farewell presented to Amédée Forget by various groups and organizations (1897-1907); Amédée Forget's replies to addresses (ca. 1902-1904); addresses by Amédée Forget, ca. 1897-1903; commissions appointing Amédée Forget to various positions; articles, correspondence and telegrams relating to his work as Indian Commissioner; photographs and visitors' registers from Government House in Regina, 1893-1910.
Records relating to Henriette Forget include a beaded necklace presented to her by Chief Little Bear; photographs; her reminiscences of Native activity in Battleford in 1879 and a scrapbook of clippings from French and English newspapers compiled by her and her husband between 1895 and 1923. The scrapbook includes several articles written by Henriette Forget, including "Navigation of the Saskatchewan in Early Days". The scrapbook pages from September 12, 1895 to July 21, 1905 have been microfilmed.
