Copy portrait of John Cochrane Smith, former livestock commissioner (1912-1915) with the Saskatchewan Department of Agriculture. Smith resigned as commissioner in 1915 to enlist with the 68th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. Smith attained the rank of Captain and was killed in action on November 10, 1917.
