The fonds consists of records created, accumulated and used by Ed Tchorzewski during his political career as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), as a member of the New Democratic Party (NDP), as a minister holding numerous portfolios in the Allan Blakeney and Roy Romanow governments, and as Opposition Critic.

The records described in GR-1 relate primarily to Tchorzewski's years as a minister in the Blakeney Government, his opposition years, and his constituency activities. As such they contain both public and private/political components including portfolio material (Consumer Affairs, Provincial Secretary, Culture and Youth, Education and Continuing Education, Health), Humboldt/Regina North East/Regina Dewdney constituency files, election nomination and campaign records, speeches and speaker notes, invitations, Legislative Assembly files, Cabinet planning, conference, convention and party caucus meetings, membership and planning material, Opposition Critic for the Environment, Deputy Leader and general subject files.

The fonds also consists of records created while Schmidt was acting-Minister in the Indian and Native Affairs portfolio on behalf of Grant Hodgins. The records from both portfolios is incomplete.
