Index 67

Views of events that comprised Index 67, Saskatchewan's industrial exposition and mineral symposium that was held at Regina from August 27 to September 2, 1967. Index 67 was initiated by the Saskatchewan Department of Industry and Commerce, and was sponsored jointly by the Department and the City of Regina. Its purpose was to publicize the development of mineral resources of the province and the opportunities for industrial growth that existed in Saskatchewan. 01: Following Index 67, tours were arranged for delegates to visit resource developments in the province. Here, delegates inspect the copper concentrate mill of the Anglo-Rouyn mine located near La Ronge. 02: A group of delegates visits the facilities of Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting at Flin Flon. 03: A group of delegates on a mine tour. 04 to 05: Delegates arriving by air on August 27th were given red-carpet treatment by an official welcoming party and pipe band. 06: Nelson C. White, president and chief executive officer of International Minerals and Chemical Corporation addresses the conference luncheon on August 30. At White's left is G.D. Michener's arrival at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building on October 19th and his inspection of a guard of honour from Canadian Forces Base, Moose Jaw; a ceremony held in the Legislative Chamber on October 19th which included the Investiture of H.W. (Chip) Sturdy, British trade commissioner for Saskatchewan, as a Member of the British Empire, and the presentation by Mrs. Michener of gold cords to Girl Guides and their leaders; following the ceremony, an informal meeting with children involved in various levels of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides organizations; and a formal dinner and dance held at the Hotel Saskatchewan on October 20th.

Views of a signing ceremony held at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building on November 4, 1970, wherein the Robin Hood Multifoods Ltd. plant at Moose Jaw was formally turned over to the Saskatchewan Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO). Participants in the ceremony included Hon. W. Ross Thatcher, Premier of Saskatchewan and chair of SEDCO, George Hatton, SEDCO treasurer, and George H. McIvor, honorary chair of Robin Hood Multifoods Ltd. The Moose Jaw plant included 15 acres of land, a three-storey office building, two warehouses, a flour mill, an oat mill, a boiler house, and ancillary buildings.

Courses offered at the Vocational Training Centre at Weyburn

Views of students and instructors participating in courses offered at the Vocational Training Centre located at Weyburn. 01 to 30: Students operate pipeline welding equipment. 31 to 40: Students are instructed in motor mechanics. 41 to 52: Students learn the upholstery business. 53 to 54: A student mixes paint in preparation of painting a room as part of the painting and decorating course. 55 to 60: A student painter puts the finishing touches to a room, while other students lay tile and carpet. 61 to 68: Students learn the art of sign writing. The Vocational Training Centre was located within a vacated wing of the Saskatchewan Hospital at Weyburn.
