Prairie Giant: The Tommy Douglas Story series

This series consists of records pertaining to Prairie Giant: The Tommy Douglas Story, a two-part mini-series for television produced by Minds Eye Entertainment in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Prairie Giant told the story of T.C. "Tommy" Douglas from his years as a Baptist minister in Weyburn, Saskatchewan to his rise as Premier of Saskatchewan from 1944 to 1961. It aired on CBC Television and was distributed by Minds Eye International Canada. In 2006, Prairie Giant was nominated for several Gemini and Seoul Drama awards. It won a Gemini Award for best achievement in make-up; a Seoul Drama Award for best actor (Michael Therriault); several 2007 Accolade TV awards; a 2007 CINE Golden Eagle Award for best drama; a Gold Camera Award at the 2007 U.S. International Film and Video Festival; and a 2007 ACTRA award for outstanding performance - male (Michael Therriault). Prairie Giant was filmed primarily in southern Saskatchewan.
The executive producer and producer of Prairie Giant: The Tommy Douglas Story was Kevin DeWalt. It was directed by John N. Smith and written by Bruce M. Smith. The director of photography was Pierre Letarte and the editor was Jackie Dzuba. The cast of Prairie Giant included Michael Therriault, Kristin Booth, Nicholas Campbell, Brent Carver, Aidan Devine, Paul Gross, Andy Jones, Brian Markinson, Don McKellar, Robert Moloney, R.H. Thomson and Ian Tracey.

Textual records consist of: financial documents; clearances; day files; casting material; continuity notes; scripts; research material, including copies of records from the Saskatchewan Archives Board; camera reports; film transfer reports; schedules; publicity material and records relating to travel arrangements. Graphic materials include Art Department location stills; cast photographs and continuity photographs.
Electronic records consist of: photographs; audio recordings and musical selections; digital versions of the final production; auditions; logos; a promotional video; and a focus group video recording.
