This series consists of records pertaining to Lyddie, a movie for television co-produced by The Film Works Ltd., Minds Eye Pictures, and Wall to Wall Television. Set in Prince Edward County, Ontario in the 1860s, the fictional drama tells the story of Lyddie Worthen, a young woman who is forced to leave the family farm and finds employment at a cotton mill in Cornwall, Ontario. She perseveres in her new environment, despite challenges, as she finds independence and love. Lyddie is based on a novel of the same title, written by Katherine Paterson. The production was filmed in the province of Saskatchewan and in Lancashire, England.
The executive producers of Lyddie were Kevin DeWalt (Minds Eye) and Victor Solnicki (The Film Works). It was produced by Eric Jordan (The Film Works), and Alex Graham (Wall to Wall), and directed by Stefan Scaini. It was edited by Ralph Brunjes, and Maggie Wadey was the screenwriter. The director of photography was Michael Storey. The production was distributed by Minds Eye International. The cast of Lyddie included Tanya Allen, Christianne Hirt, Simon James, Tom Georgeson, and Pat Keen.
Records consist of: videocassettes of raw footage (MI-5727 to MI-5733); film to video transfers (MI-5734 to MI-5754); press conference coverage (MI-5755); promotional material (MI-5756); an electronic press kit (MI-5757) and masters for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the British Broadcasting Corporation (MI-5758 to MI-5770). Versions of master tapes included are: drop frame; protection; audio restriped; colour corrected; conform; e-wash conform; and international.
Sound recordings include: DAT master tapes (SR-689 to SR-738); digital audio mastering tapes on S-VHS cassettes (SR-740 to SR-754); and an audio recording of a CBC radio interview (SR-739). Textual records include: a script; audio recording work records; continuity notes; publicity material; and documents pertaining to the movie's premiere. Photographic records include slides, negatives and contact prints depicting the filming of the production. The majority of the photographs were taken by Calvin Fehr Photography.
