Zeman/Voytilla Families series

This series consists of records created, accumulated and used by Joe Zeman of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan relating to his maternal and paternal families.

The types of records included are correspondence; photographs; diaries; greeting cards; descendent charts; funeral cards; agreements; passports; eulogies; publications; and albums.

Personal series

This series consists of records created, accumulated and used by W.M. Stewart pertaining to his academic career and personal pursuits in Ontario and Saskatchewan between 1898 and 1957. It also includes records created, accumulated and used by members of the W.M. Stewart family, who resided in Saskatoon (ca. 1913-1942) and in Regina (1942-present) and the Robert Turnbull family who resided in Saskatoon (ca. 1910-1972).

The types of records include photographs, diaries, certificates, financial documents and legal documents.

The series has been arranged into two sub-series: W.M. Stewart, and Stewart and Turnbull Families.

Hipperson Family series

This series consists of records created, accumulated, and used by members of the William Hipperson family, predominantly covering the period from William Hipperson's immigration to Saskatchewan in the early twentieth century to the early twenty-first century. This series contains records that pertain to the Hipperson family's personal affairs, including their personal finances and investments, and their agriculture operations (cattle, grain, and fur) in rural Saskatchewan.

The types of records include: publications; correspondence; photographs; a sketch; a poster; a map; architectural drawings; a signature stamp plate; certificates; clippings; financial statements; account ledgers and journals; income tax returns; bank statements and cancelled cheques; invoices and receipts; will and estate documentation; and insurance policies.

This series includes a small amount of records created by Southfields Investments Ltd. and records created and accumulated by George H. Sneath.

The series has been arranged into three sub-series: Personal Finances and Investments; Personal Papers; and Reference Books.

William Hipperson Family, 1884-

Appointments, Boards and Commissions series

This series consists of records that document John Archer's involvement in boards, commissions and inquiries to which he was appointed based not upon his participation with a particular organization or body, but based on his standing within the community.

The types of records include publications, committee minutes, appraisal reports, fundraising and publicity strategies, reports and studies, transcripts of court and hearing proceedings, affidavits, correspondence, and applications for judicial appointments.

Saskatchewan Homestead Records Pre-1930 series

This series consists of homestead records created, accumulated and used by the federal Department of the Interior, Dominion Lands Administration between 1872 and 1930. Each file pertains to a specific parcel of land (typically a quarter section or portion thereof) available for settlement under the provisions of the Dominion Lands Act, 1872 (An Act respecting the Public Lands of the Dominion, S.C. 1872, c. 23). A file usually covers the period from date of entry until grant of patent, at which time file was closed. Files contain information pertaining to various types of land grants including homesteads; pre-emptions; scrip grants to North West Métis entrants and to South African volunteers; grants to soldiers of the Great War; and homesteads on First Nations reserves. The fonds also includes: applications for Letters Patent that were separated from certain original homestead files and filed independently; and administrative records regarding the management of lands designated for schools.

The types of records included are applications for entry and for patent; land condition and valuation reports; land transfer documents; sale deeds and receipts; notarial certificates; naturalization documents; cattle grazing and haying permits; soldier land settlements; maps; and correspondence.

Lands Grant Files series

This series consists records that document the activities related to the issuing of grants on patented land for the North-West Territories and the Province of Saskatchewan. Patented land refers to land for which title has previously been granted; the Crown 'grants' title to the land to the new owner. Activities reflected in the records include the management of enquiries, application forms, payments, agreements, and recording the disposition of lands.

The types of records included are original and copies of correspondence, agreements, survey reports, comparative land reports, announcements of land availability, technical drawings, appraisal and inspection reports, registration abstracts, survey photographs and drawings, tax notices, wills and other documentation.

Records in this series are listed consecutively by grant number within collections. The archival holdings for grant files are incomplete.

Saskatchewan Homestead Records River Lots series

This series consists of homestead records created, accumulated and used by the federal Department of the Interior, Dominion Lands Administration (1871-1930) and the Saskatchewan Department of Natural Resources, Lands Branch (1930-1944). The files pertain to parcels of land, identified as River Lots, that were available for settlement under the provisions of the Dominion Lands Act, 1872 (S.C. 1872, c. 23) and The Provincial Lands Act (S.S. 1931, c. 14). A file usually covers period from date of entry until grant of patent, at which time the file was closed. Files contain records pertaining to various types of land grants, including homesteads, pre-emptions and time sale purchases. Included are files for river lots in settlement areas at St. Laurent, Green Lake, Cumberland House, Sturgeon Landing, Ile a la Crosse, Lac La Ronge, as well as lands originally reserved for the North-West Mounted Police at Battleford.

The types of records included are: applications for entry and for patent; surveyor's reports; land condition and valuation reports; correspondence; sale deeds and receipts; lease claims and receipts; and maps.

Saskatchewan Homestead Records Administrative Files series

This series consists records created, accumulated and used between 1882 and 1931 by the federal Department of the Interior, Dominion Lands Administration in the administration of the disposition of lands in Saskatchewan under the provisions of the Dominion Lands Act, 1872 (S.C. 1872, c. 23). The records include: letter books of the Dominion Lands Offices in Prince Albert (1887-1888) and Moose Jaw (1916), monthly diaries of homestead inspectors (1912-1929), ledgers containing circular letters of instructions to Dominion land agents (1882-1883 and 1910-1918), and a time sales register from the Battleford Dominion Lands Office (1886-1911). The series also includes records created by the Saskatchewan Department of Natural Resources, Lands Branch relating to the Saskatchewan Relief Commission and the Settlement Relief Plan (1931-1932).

Additionally, the series consists of records created, accumulated and used by the Dominion Lands Administration (1890-1931) and the Saskatchewan Department of Natural Resources, Lands Branch (1931-1941) in the disposition of a specific parcel or parcels of land available for settlement under the provisions of the Dominion Lands Act, 1872 (S.C. 1872, c. 23) and The Provincial Lands Act (S.S. 1931, c. 14). These include lands in the townsites of Wymark and South Battleford, homestead lands converted to grazing leases, and lands held as timber berths. Files contain records pertaining to various types of land grants, including homesteads, pre-emptions, time sale purchases, and leases.

This government series consists of homestead fiats for patent issued by the Canadian Department of the Interior. The fiats were issued by the Department of the Interior to authorize the preparation of Letters Patent, which granted or confirmed title to a portion of land. Arranged chronologically, the fiats for patent typically contain the patentee's name, post office address and the legal land description of the homestead.
