Appointments, Boards and Commissions series

This series consists of records that document John Archer's involvement in boards, commissions and inquiries to which he was appointed based not upon his participation with a particular organization or body, but based on his standing within the community.

The types of records include publications, committee minutes, appraisal reports, fundraising and publicity strategies, reports and studies, transcripts of court and hearing proceedings, affidavits, correspondence, and applications for judicial appointments.

Organizations series

This series consists of records created, accumulated and used by John Archer through his participation and membership in organizations, associations, charitable organizations and institutions related to his interest in Canadian and Saskatchewan history, Canadian unity, and the arts.

The types of records included are: newsletters, correspondence, minutes, reports, programs, invitations, correspondence, fundraising requests, minutes, and membership cards.

Personal series

This series consists of personal and family records created, accumulated and used by John Archer. The series predominately contains records created and maintained outside of Archer's role in an institutional framework or involvement in large organizations, and were maintained for his own interest. These records include research on the Archer family, personal (chronological) correspondence, notations about his early educational achievements and a sampling of correspondence documenting Archer's employment history. The records of this series encompass private research activities and the promotion of heritage/history related issues across the province through publications, speaking engagements and extension courses.

The types of records included are personal correspondence; school inspection reports; appointment books; financial statements; speeches; mark transcripts; scripts for media performances; invitations; lecture notes; published and unpublished manuscripts; family trees; certificates and photographs.

The series has been divided into 13 sub-series: Correspondence; Education and Training; Employment; Finances; Medical and Health; Appointment Books; Programs and Invitations; Speaking Engagements; Media Presentations; Manuscripts; Genealogical Research; Certificates, Awards and Honours; and Photographs and Other Pictorial Records.

Subject Files series

This series consists of records that document John Archer's passion for subjects related to the Anglican Church, the Canadian military, politics, and education.

The types of records included are correspondence, memoranda, briefing notes, minutes, photographs, architectural plans, conference proceedings, invitations, programs, clippings, articles, and newsletters.

These records were gathered together by a connection to a particular topic or project and may contain records of different provenance. The different provenance of records becomes apparent at the sub-series level.
