Lloyd G. Warkentin collection

This collection consists of records created, accumulated and used by former Saskatchewan resident Lloyd G. Warkentin. The records relate to his personal and family life; his interest in religion; his early life in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan; his work as a bank manager and as an employee of the Saskatchewan Department of Co-operation and Co-operative Development. Many of the items reflect Warkentin's general interest in Saskatchewan and its history.

The types of records included are photographs, yearbooks, telephone directories, family histories, correspondence, notes, reports, publications, postcards, maps, and memorabilia.

The graphic materials in this collection focus mainly on the Warkentin, Thiessen and Kowalko families; the town of Dalmeny; and various representations of Saskatchewan, including agricultural scenes, abandoned farms and machinery, elevators, towns (including hotels and other businesses), bridges, ferries, landmarks, Taylor Field and the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the RCMP Musical Ride.

All of the records in the collection have been described at the file or item level, except for S-G906.6, which includes a publication entitled The Western Teacher: Modern Classroom Magazine, Volume 3, No. 2, published by Western Extension College, 1932.

No series assignment has been applied to the records in this collection.

This collection consists of records accumulated and used by Thomas Henry (Tom) and Dolores (Gaw) McGovern of Regina, Saskatchewan.

The collection includes various local history records including a photograph of people who attended the Clifford School reunion in Admiral, Saskatchewan on August 1, 1987; an undated aerial view of Admiral with the caption Standard Implement Co.; a placemat relating to Admiral's 75th anniversary in 1989; a brief history of Baring, Saskatchewan [1961 or after]; a booklet entitled Memories of Baring; a photograph of a wagon used in a parade in Baring in 1997; an exterior view of the Frenchville store and hall and unidentified people gathered around automobiles; a list of people who attended the Glenavon Homecoming '71 event on July 24 and 25, 1971; a copy of brief history of Glenavon (author unknown); a local history book entitled A Second Glance: Village of Glenavon, R.M. of Chester #125, 1910-2010, compiled by the Glenavon History Book Committee, 2010; Historic Calendar July 2005-December 2006, a Centennial Project by Grenfell Museum Association; Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 Keepsake Edition dated June 28, 2005 published by The Grenfell Sun; photographs relating to the Huntingford School District No. 1412 reunion and erection of commemorative plaque on July 7, 1990; booklet regarding Tom Sukanen and Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum entitled Together At Last and colour photographs of the site, including a threshing bee on the museum grounds in 1993; booklet and photographs relating to Viewland School District No. 3997 reunion and plaque, 1990; booklet relating to walking tour of Wolseley, Saskatchewan, 2004; and photographs of the exteriors of the Prairie Lane school and teacherage, 1930?.

The collection also includes photographs of members of the Gaw family of Glenavon, Saskatchewan and sympathy cards and other documents relating to Tom McGovern's death in 1999. Also included is a cookbook compiled by members of the Baring Good Companions; a 2016 Christmas letter from Everett and Yvette Koeller and the 2016 publication entitled Corky, written by Everett "Butch" Koeller, that includes genealogical information on the McCann, McGovern and Clifford families and reminiscences of his attendance at Notre Dame College, Wilcox; Regina Grey Nuns' Hospital School of Nursing yearbooks, 1951-1952; 1953-1954; 1955-1956; and Saskatchewan Government Telephones 3C Telephone Directory for Arcola, Grenfell, Indian Head, Moosomin and Wolseley, March 1949.

Collection consists of issues for the journal Saskatchewan History that was published by the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan from 1948-2017. The magazine presented a colourful and provocative source of information and narration about Saskatchewan’s unique heritage. Issues included articles on the fur trade era, pioneer life, ethnic groups and immigration, the history of medicine and medical care, business and trade unionism, religion, women’s history, First Nations and Métis history, sports history, and many other facets of Saskatchewan’s past. The magazine regularly promoted, through photo essays, scholarly articles and general interest stories, features about the Provincial Archives’ diverse Permanent Collection and heritage and archives news from around the province.

The collection includes textual records, photographs and sound recordings relating to the Saskatchewan Golden Jubilee Choir (1955) and the Saskatchewan Golden Jubilee Choir Centennial reunion (2005). Records relating to Scott Collegiate, Regina include Scott Echoes yearbooks for the 1952/53, 1953/54, 1954/55 and 1955/56 school years; the Special Reunion Edition of The Recorder, 1980; two ribbons for Forbes Day, 1955; and a programme, photograph and sound recording relating to the Scottettes choir in the 1950s.

This collection consists of the personal and professional records of George Taylor and Tillie Taylor of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The collection includes personal correspondence; family records, including degrees, honours, photographs, birth certificates, passports, etc.; correspondence and subject files.

The collection includes records relating to George Taylor's professional and political career as a labour lawyer; alderman in Saskatoon; member of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) and New Democratic Party (NDP); and volunteer in the Spanish Civil War.

The collection includes records relating to Tillie Taylor's career as a provincial magistrate, judge for the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan and founder of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission, as well as records related to the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Committee, Canadian Council on Social Development, John Howard Society, and the Elizabeth Fry Society. The collection includes her poems and novels and records relating to her unpublished manuscript on Dolly Sharzer.
