Western Christian College fonds

This fonds consists of records created, accumulated and used by Radville Christian College and its successor, Western Christian College (later known as Western Christian College and High School) in its daily administration and operations primarily as a bible college and high school. Locations of the school included: Radville, Saskatchewan (1945-1957); North Weyburn, Saskatchewan (1957-1989); Dauphin, Manitoba (1989-2003) and Regina, Saskatchewan (2003-2012). The fonds includes the records of bible schools held at Minton, Ogema and Radville that preceded the establishment of Radville Christian College. It also includes records accumulated and used by the school that pertain to the history and doctrine of the Churches of Christ in western Canada. Additionally, records of the school's board of directors are included in the fonds.

R-E1492 consists of a copy of Radburn's Memoirs, a history of Radville Christian College and Western Christian College (1945-1970) written by Lillian M. Torkelson. R-E2153 consists of copies of the school's Northern Lights yearbooks for 1962-63 and 1963-64.

This fonds consists of records created, accumulated and used from 1949 to 1961 by the secretary of the Saskatchewan Peace Council.

Tape R-10365 and Tape R-10366 are sound recordings of an address delivered in 1950 by the Very Reverend Hewlett Johnson, the Dean of Canterbury, to an audience in Regina, Saskatchewan on the tension between the East and the West and the importance of working for peace in the world. Tape R-10367 is an undated sound recording of an unidentified member of the Canadian Peace Congress making a statement explaining the Congress's purpose and aims. Tape R-10368 is a sound recording of an address by Dr. James G. Endicott to an audience in Regina, Saskatchewan on the USSR's position on various topics related to world peace.

This fonds consists of records created, accumulated and used by Ray Crone in pursuit of his personal interests and hobbies. The records, which date from 1910 to 2003, relate mainly to aviation and the aircraft industry, potash, telephone service in Saskatchewan, and the Western Development Museum.

The types of records included are minutes, addresses, log books, correspondence, reports, scrapbooks, publications, photographs, maps, posters, audiotapes and videocassettes.

The fonds includes sound recordings recorded from 1979 to 1982 of the reminiscences of Ray Crone of Regina; Ed Matheson of Regina; and Graham Campbell of Delta, British Columbia. The three men served in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Squadron 162 during World War II and recall the incident which resulted in the Victoria Cross being awarded to Flight Lieutenant David E. Hornell (reference codes Tape R-8177 to Tape R-8178).

The fonds consists of records created, accumulated and used by Lumby Productions Ltd. during its period of operation in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from the early 1960s through to the mid- 1980s. Also included are certain records belonging to Lumby Productions' Regina office which operated between 1970 and 1974.

The records include correspondence dealing with the making, distribution, sales, and promotion of sound recordings and with the purchase of equipment and supplies; files pertaining to the production of radio and television commercials; films; brochures for various companies, organizations and government agencies; scripts; copy; photographs; posters; mock-ups; film edge numbers; storyboards; printed material; notes; artwork; animation drawings; animation cells; administrative office files dealing with copyright, export information, film library lists and financial matters; production order files including billing information, and copies of works including films, audio tapes and photographs.

Also included are personal files of John and Helen Lumby; as well as additional photographs, moving images and sound recordings not found in client or production files. These consist of finished films, production elements, out-takes, videotapes, negatives, photographic prints, slides, audio discs, tapes and reels.

Certain records in this fonds pre-date Lumby Productions Ltd. and relate to John Lumby's earlier work as a photographer with the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix.

The records in this fonds also consist of a small amount of records created by Size Small Productions Inc., formed in 1981 when the operations of Lumby Productions Ltd. were beginning to wind down. These records remained with the fonds during the initial arrangement of the records in 1988.
