Natural Gas in Regina - Signing Applications

56-411-01 to 56-411-04 : Mayor Leslie Hammond (seated left) of Regina and Premier Tommy C. Douglas (seated right) are shown signing applications for the provision of gas to their homes. They became the first Regina citizens to apply for natural gas following the signing of an agreement between the city and the Saskatchewan Power Commission/Corporation, October 26, 1956. The applications were signed at the Saskatchewan Power Corporation head office located on Cornwall Street in Regina. Standing behind Mayor Leslie Herbert Hammond (1908-1998) and Mr. Douglas are J.E. Mollard, Gas Development Engineer (left) and J.R. Sarsfield, Business Manager (right).
