A Female Perspective series

This series consists of records relating to A Female Perspective, a seven-part documentary series produced by Heartland Motion Pictures Inc. in 1997. The 30 minute episodes examine various issues facing women and were produced with the assistance of the Saskatchewan Communications Network (SCN) and the SaskFilm and Video Development Corporation (SaskFILM).

The first documentary, Martha Cole: Discovering the Feminine Within, focuses on Saskatchewan fibre artist Martha Cole. Partners in Midwifery includes interview segments with midwives Heather Wood and Cathy Ellis. Dating Again focuses on mature women re-entering the dating world. The Cottage is a Woman's Place focuses on a family cottage in the Qu'Appelle Valley and includes excerpts from the writings of Pat Kraus and Judy Kraus. Stepping In focuses on one woman's experience with step families. Chasing the Ultimate Pregnancy deals with the issue of infertility. Beyond the Blue is a profile of Constable Angela MacDougall of the Regina Police Service.

Records include copies of the broadcast masters and documentary summaries.

At First Sight series

This series consists of records relating to At First Sight, a 30 minute dramatic film produced in 1984 by Framework Productions Inc. The film's working titles included Syncronicity and Winter Light. The film concerns the mysterious meeting of a man and woman with tragic results. At First Sight, one of the first independent films shot in Saskatchewan, was aired on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and at international film and video festivals. The film was directed by Roman Buchok, executive produced by Edward Onda and produced by Stephen Onda.

The film was produced with the assistance of Yorkton Television Company Ltd. and Saskatchewan Film Pool Cooperative and produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada.

Production records include a script, contracts, budget, continuity report, prop receipts, continuity photographs, copy of broadcast master and master mix of sound on 16 mm magnetic film.

Betting the Farm series

This series consists of records relating to Betting the Farm, a documentary produced in 2000 by Heartland Motion Pictures Inc. in association with CBC Newsworld. The documentary explores various issues affecting farm families in Western Canada and focuses on a group known as Farmers for Justice, who fought against the Canadian Wheat Board to market their own grain. The documentary's working title was Grow.

The documentary includes interviews with David and Karen Bryan, farmers near Central Butte, Saskatchewan; Bob Roehle of the Canadian Wheat Board; Nettie Wiebe of the National Farmers Union; Alfred Wagner and his son, Wayne Wagner, farmers near Craven, Saskatchewan; Doug Bryan, David Bryan's father and a farmer; Dale Richardson of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool; and Rod Flaman, a farmer near Edenwold, Saskatchewan.

Records relating to this production include a tape directory; transcripts of interviews; a copy of the final broadcast version; field tapes; and stock footage.

Borderline Normal series

This series consists of records relating to Borderline Normal, a 2001 feature film directed by Jeff Beesley of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Produced and distributed by Heartland Motion Pictures, Inc., the film stars Corbin Bernsen, Caterina Scorsone, Stephanie Zimbalist, Eugene Lipinski, Michael Ironside and Robin Dunne. Shot on location in Regina, Saskatchewan and Windsor, Ontario, the film portrays the stuggles of a 16 year old boy experienced when his divorced parents fight over custody of him.

The film was produced in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), and World International Network LLC. The film was produced with the participation of TMN (The Movie Network), Superchannel, The Saskatchewan Film Employment Tax Credit Program (FETC) and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit Program.

Records relating to this production include budget materials; daily production reports; cost reports; agreements; correspondence; a poster and copies of the broadcast version. The electronic records on CD-ROM contain a Adobe Acrobat PDF press kit consisting of a one-sheet, synopsis, cast list, production credits, key cast biographies, production biographies, and 51 JPEG images of the cast, writer, and director.

Conquest series

This series consists of records relating to Conquest, a feature film produced by Shaftesbury Films, Heartland Motion Pictures and Greenpoint Films. Directed by Piers Haggard, the film was shot on location in Davin, Mortlach and St. Joseph's, Saskatchewan. The cast includes Lothaire Bluteau, Tara Fitzgerald, Monique Mercure, David Fox, Eugene Lipinski and Daniel Macdonald. The film was produced by Stephen Onda and Christina Jennings and written by Rob Forsyth.

The film was produced with the participation of Canada Television and Cable Production Fund, Telefilm Canada and SaskFilm. The film was produced in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and was the winner of the Best Canadian Film Award at the 1998 Atlantic Film Festival. In 1999, Monique Mercure won the Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance as Grace Gallagher. Conquest has been shown on the Showtime network in the United States.

English Teachers series

This series consists of records relating to English Teachers, a reality television series produced by Westwind Pictures for Life Network in which six twenty year olds leave home for the first time and are employed as English teachers in Taipei, Taiwan. The series was directed by David Hansen and produced by Stephen Onda and David Hansen. The series was awarded "Best Documentary Series" at the 2004 Yorkton Film Festival.

Records relating to this production include a series demo tape and copies of episodes one, two, three, four, five and eight.

Finn on the Fly series

This series consists of records relating to Finn on the Fly, a feature film for families in which Finn, a boy's dog, drinks a secret potion concocted by a mad scientist and becomes human. Directed by Mark Jean, the film stars Ana Gasteyer, Brandon Firla, Matthew Knight, David Milchard, Wendy Anderson and Ryan Belleville. The film, shot on location in Regina and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, was produced by Amaze Film + Television in association with Stephen Onda Productions Inc.

Records relating to this production include a DVD of the finished film for home entertainment use; a colour photograph of the crew; and business records including agreements, funding applications, schedules, and budgets.

Guitarman series

This series consists of records relating to Guitarman, a 1994 feature film for television shot in Rouleau and Estlin, Saskatchewan and districts. Directed by Will Dixon and produced by Heartland Motion Pictures Inc., the film stars Nicholas Campbell, Donnelly Rhodes, Andrea Martin and Regina blues musician Jack Semple as "Guitarman". The film was written by Will Dixon and Hart Hanson and produced by Stephen Onda and Will Dixon. The film, a modern retelling of the Pied Piper fable, was the Saskatchewan film industry's first full length made for television movie. Guitarman's broadcast on CBC in 1994 was the first national broadcast of a Saskatchewan feature drama. The movie received development support from Telefilm, SaskFILM, and Superchannel and investment support from SaskFILM.

Sound recording SR-175 consists of Guitarman media clips. Side 2 includes CBC Radio, Noon Edition, October 8, 1993, 12:10pm interview by Ted Deller about how the movie has affected the town of Rouleau, Saskatchewan with clips with producer Stephen Onda and Rouleau residents Dorothy Hughes and Ken Hoff.

Hello...Africa Calling series

This series consists of records relating to Hello...Africa Calling, a television documentary that explores the various aspects of bringing global communications technologies to developing countries, like Tanzania, and the concept of information poverty. Home on the Range series

This series consists of records relating to Home on the Range, a half-hour dramatic series pilot produced by Heartland Motion Pictures Inc. for the CBC series "Inside Stories". Based on a story by Vikas Khaladkar, the pilot was written by Andrew Wreggitt, directed by Will Dixon and produced by Stephen Onda. The cast includes Sugith Varughese, Cheryl Campbell, Bill Dixon, Jake Roberts, Bill Strauss and Jean Farr. Shot on location in Davin, Saskatchewan, the pilot focuses on an East Indian lawyer from Toronto, Ontario who comes to Saskatchewan to pursue his dream of becoming a cowboy.

The drama was produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and SaskFilm. The pilot was broadcast nationally on CBC on January 23, 1991. It was nominated for "Best Short Dramatic Program" at the 1992 Gemini Awards and was the winner of "Best Television Pilot" at the 1991 Houston Film Festival.

Records include a sound recording of a promotional segment aired on two Regina radio stations: CBC Radio on September 24, 1990 and Z-99 Radio on September 25, 1990. The segment includes an interview with actor Sugith Varughese. Also included are a copy of the broadcast master and copies of camera rolls.
