Churches of Christ series

This series consists of records accumulated and used by Western Christian College in its function as an archive of documents and publications on the history of the Churches of Christ in western Canada, and on the doctrine of the restoration movement. The series includes records related to: the establishment of Churches of Christ in western Canada and their founders; published works of evangelists; histories and operational records of various Churches of Christ in Saskatchewan; biographies and memoirs of members of the churches; and newspapers, periodicals and subject files relating to Restoration in Canada, missionary work, and the Churches of Christ in Canada and abroad.

The types of records in this series include: newspapers and periodicals; published works; ledger, minute and attendance books; photographs; a photo album; fabric preaching charts; an audio compact disc; DVDs; a VHS cassette; and CD-ROMS.

This fonds consists of records created, accumulated and used by Radville Christian College and its successor, Western Christian College (later known as Western Christian College and High School) in its daily administration and operations primarily as a bible college and high school. Locations of the school included: Radville, Saskatchewan (1945-1957); North Weyburn, Saskatchewan (1957-1989); Dauphin, Manitoba (1989-2003) and Regina, Saskatchewan (2003-2012). The fonds includes the records of bible schools held at Minton, Ogema and Radville that preceded the establishment of Radville Christian College. It also includes records accumulated and used by the school that pertain to the history and doctrine of the Churches of Christ in western Canada. Additionally, records of the school's board of directors are included in the fonds.

R-E1492 consists of a copy of Radburn's Memoirs, a history of Radville Christian College and Western Christian College (1945-1970) written by Lillian M. Torkelson. R-E2153 consists of copies of the school's Northern Lights yearbooks for 1962-63 and 1963-64.

The fonds was arranged into four series: Churches of Christ; Radville / Western Christian College; Graphic Items; and Board of Directors.

The types of records in this fonds include: photographic prints, negatives, slides, transparencies and albums; newspapers and periodicals; yearbooks; minutes and agendas; publications, including church and school histories; newspaper clippings; programmes; invitations; constitutions and by-laws; certificates; event planning files; school catalogues; school records and class lists; church minute and attendance books; guest books; scrapbooks; fabric preaching charts; objects; architectural drawings; audio and moving image recordings; and digital photographic, textual, audio, video and multi-media records.

Western Christian College, 1945-2012

Lillian M. Torkelson

Portraits and other photographs of Lillian M. Torkelson, the first high school teacher at Radville Christian College upon its opening in 1946. Torkelson taught at Radville (and after 1957, Western) Christian College until her full retirement in 1982. Additionally, she served as principal (1946-1956, 1960-1963) and vice-principal (1956-1960, 1963-1964) and member of the board of directors (1978-1981). She continued to support the college until her death in 2004. Photographs include (1) to (4) prior to her teaching career at Radville; (5) to (33) throughout her career; (34) to (39) celebrating her 85th birthday at the college's Dauphin campus; (40) to (42) upon receipt of an honourary Master's degree from the college; (43) to (45) in retirement; (46) to (47) participating in the opening of the college's Regina campus.

Radville / Western Christian College series

This series consists of operational and administrative records created, accumulated and used by Radville Christian College (1945-1957) and its successor, Western Christian College (1957-2012). The series also consists of records related to the school's student government, its alumni association and women's service club. A small volume of records related to the summer and winter bible schools held at Radville, Ogema and Minton in the 1930s and 1940s is also included in the series. Additionally, a small volume of records created and accumulated by Lillian Torkelson, a long-time Radville/Western teacher, principal and alumni association chairperson, is included in the series.

The types of records included in the series are: yearbooks; school newsletters and newspapers; school histories; publications; newspaper clippings; student handbooks; programmes; invitations; school catalogues; constitutions and by-laws; correspondence of the school's presidents; event planning files; audio recordings of the school's choral groups and Lectureship keynote speakers; moving image records of graduations, athletic competitions and other school events; school records and class lists; student government meeting minutes; fabric preaching charts; a commemorative school stamp and coin; an oversize scrapbook; guest books; photographs of alumni events and those used for publicity; and digital photographic, textual, audio, video and multi-media records.

This series consists of photographic records created, accumulated and used by staff and students of Radville Christian College, Western Christian College and Western Christian College and High School between 1945 and 2010. It also includes photographic records of the bible schools that preceded the establishment of Radville Christian College in 1945. The types of records included are: photographic prints; negatives; albums; slides; and transparencies. Please consult box listing for photographic records not described in Threshold.
