First White Woman in Western Canada

Clipping of a newspaper article entitled, First White Woman in Western Canada, written by Charles Napier Bell and published in the June 23, 1934 edition of the Winnipeg Free Press. Profiles the journal entry of Alexander Henry, dated December 29, 1807, of his encounter with an Orkney girl in what is today the Winnipeg, Manitoba region. Also profiled is Madame Marie Anne Lajimoniere. According to the article, both she and the Orkney girl are considered to be the earliest white females in what is western Canada today.

The Governor-General Comes West
