Map compiled by Henry B. Sawatzky to illustrate the regional tectonic pattern of Saskatchewan and to reveal some of the localized structural trends. The data upon which the map is based was submitted to the Saskatchewan Department of Mineral Resources by various oil companies in compliance with the regulations under the Mineral Resources Act and now have non-confidential status. The map was contoured and published during several stages of compilation. The details were drawn by hand on a Saskatchewan Department of Mineral Resources map. The map was used to pinpoint the location of what is now the Mosaic Potash Mine east of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
In order to maintain maximum continuity, reflection horizons near the top of the Paleozoic surface were used extensively, although data from Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous formations were resorted to in certain areas. Where the source material was represented in two-way corrected time, a 0.010 second contour interval was employed. In regions where the information was based on subsea depths in feet, a 50 foot contour interval was chosen. Structural highs have been designated with a plus (+) sign and the direction of dip indicated by means of the arrowheads attached to the contour lines.
