Part of E.K. Turner fonds
Item is a recording of an interview between Lindy Thorsen (CBC) and Hugh Wagner (Grain Services Union) and E.K. (Ted) Turner (Saskatchewan Wheat Pool) plus a portion of the hourly national news.
Interview concerns the reaction to the release of an internal Wheat Pool report that gave recommendations for cost savings and restructuring. In particular the interview focused on the suggestion to close rural elevators and establish larger, high-tech elevators. Hugh Wagner is interviewed first, followed by E.K. Turner. After the interviews is a song entitled "Diamond, Diamond" by Max Webster and then by the national news. Amongst the items on the national news are reports on the Estey Report, problems with expense claims by Nova Scotia MLAs, Dome Petroleum deal with Swiss unsecured creditors to refinance their debt, a report by Rosalie Woloski on the closing of Sask. Wheat Pool Elevators, and reserved seating for events at the Calgary Olympics in 1988.
