Eric Howard Cline was born on August 12, 1955 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Robert Cline and Lillian Morgan. He attended Estey School, Mount Royal Collegiate and Walter Murray Collegiate in Saskatoon. Cline earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (1976) and a Bachelor of Laws degree (1979) from the University of Saskatchewan.

Cline articled in Saskatoon and was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1980. He worked as a legal research officer with the Law Reform Commission of Saskatchewan (1981-1982) and practiced law in Saskatoon from 1982 to 1995. Cline was involved with numerous community and professional organizations, including the Saskatoon Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Advisory Council on the Status of Women, and Saskatoon's 25th Street Theatre.

Cline's involvement in provincial politics began in 1975, when he ran unsuccessfully in the general election as the New Democratic Party (NDP) candidate in the Regina South constituency. Cline served as president of the Saskatchewan Young New Democrats in 1975 and 1976 and was active in provincial and federal election campaigns. He was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in 1991 and served as a NDP Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Saskatoon Idylwyld (1991-1995); Saskatoon Mount Royal (1995-2003); and Saskatoon Massey Place (2003-2007) constituencies until his retirement from politics in 2007.

Cline served in the Roy Romanow and Lorne Calvert Governments as Minister of Health (1995-1997); Minister of Finance (1997-2003); Minister of Justice and Attorney General (2003); and Minister of Industry and Resources (2003-2007). He was also Minister Responsible for numerous agencies, boards and commissions.

Cline is currently (2009) Vice-President, Corporate Affairs with Shore Gold Inc., a mineral exploration and development corporation based in Saskatoon.

Eric Cline married Pauline Melis on May 28, 1988.

Lorne Albert Calvert was born on December 24, 1952 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Albert Calvert and Beulah (Phillips) Calvert. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree from the University of Regina and a Bachelor of Divinity (Theology) degree from St. Andrew's College, University of Saskatchewan.

In 1976, Calvert was ordained in the United Church of Canada and served various congregations in rural Saskatchewan. He was Minister of Zion United Church in Moose Jaw from 1979 to 1986.

Calvert was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in 1986 and served as a New Democratic Party Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Moose Jaw South (1986-1991) and Moose Jaw Wakamow (1991-1999) constituencies. He was elected MLA for the Saskatoon Riversdale constituency in 2001.

Calvert served in the Roy Romanow Government from 1992 to 1998 as Associate Minister of Health (1992-1995); Minister of Health (1995) and Minister of Social Services (1995-1998). Calvert was Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Power Corporation (1992-1993); SaskEnergy Inc. (1992-1993); Souris Basin Development Authority (1992-1993); Wakamow Valley Authority (1992-1998); Health Services Utilization and Research Commission (1995); Public Service Commission (1995-1998); Seniors (1995-1998); and Disabilities Directorate (1997-1998).

Calvert resigned from Cabinet in 1998 and did not run in the 1999 provincial general election. He worked as a social policy advisor to Premier Romanow from 1999 to 2000. Calvert was elected Leader of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party on January 27, 2001 and became Premier of Saskatchewan and President of the Executive Council on February 8, 2001. He was re-elected in the 2003 general election and served as Premier of Saskatchewan until his Government was defeated in the 2007 general election by the Saskatchewan Party. Calvert announced his retirement as party leader and MLA on October 16, 2008 and was succeeded as leader by Dwain Lingenfelter on June 6, 2009.

Calvert currently (2009) is Principal of St. Andrew's College at the University of Saskatchewan.

Lorne Calvert married Betty Anne Sluzalo on October 25, 1975. They have two children: David Lorne and Stephanie Anne.

Janice MacKinnon was born on January 30, 1947 in Kitchener, Ontario to William and Melinda Potter. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Arts degree and doctorate from Queen's University.

Prior to entering provincial politics, MacKinnon was a professor in the History Department of the University of Saskatchewan. She was President of the Saskatoon Co-operative Association and from 1988 to 1990 she was Vice-President of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party and a political commentator for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

MacKinnon was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in 1991 and served as the New Democratic Party MLA for the Saskatoon Westmount (1991-1995) and Saskatoon Idylwyld (1995-2001) constituencies.

MacKinnon served in the Roy Romanow and Lorne Calvert Governments as Minister of Social Services (1991-1992); Associate Minister of Finance (1992-1993); Minister of Finance (1993-1997); Minister of Economic and Co-operative Development (1997-2001) and Government House Leader (1997-1999).

MacKinnon was Minister Responsible for Crown Investments Corporation (1992-1993, 2001); Seniors (1991-1992); New Careers Corporation (1991-1992); Meewasin Valley Authority (1991-1993); Wanuskewin Heritage Park Corporation (1991-1993); CIC Mineral Interests Corporation (1992-1993); Saskatchewan Gaming Commission (1992-1993);Saskatchewan Pension Plan (1992-1997); NewGrade Energy (1992-1993); Municipal Financing Corporation (1993-1997); Saskatchewan Development Fund Corporation (1993-1997); Saskatchewan Opportunities Corporation (1997-2001); Saskatchewan Government Growth Fund Management Corporation (1997-2001); Tourism Authority (1997-2001); Information Highway (1998-2001); SaskEnergy Inc. (2001); Saskatchewan Power Corporation (2001); Saskatchewan Telecommunications (2001); Saskatchewan Telecommunications Holding Corporation (2001); Saskatchewan Government Insurance (2001); and Saskatchewan Transportation Company (2001).

MacKinnon resigned from Cabinet on March 2, 2001 and vacated her seat in the Saskatchewan Legislature on September 30, 2001. David Forbes (NDP) became the MLA for Saskatoon Idylwyld in the November 8, 2001 by-election.

MacKinnon returned to teaching at the University of Saskatchewan in 2001. In October, 2003, she was appointed to the board of the Institute for Research on Public Policy. MacKinnon has written extensively on public policy and is the author of books on women refugees and political culture, including Minding the Public Purse: The Fiscal Crisis, Political Trade-offs and Canada's Future.

MacKinnon currently (2006) continues to teach at the University of Saskatchewan.

Janice Potter married R. Peter MacKinnon, a lawyer, on April 20, 1974. They have two children: Alan Douglas and William Taylor.

Robert Wayne Mitchell was born on March 29, 1936 in Preeceville, Saskatchewan to Charles Stuart and Beda Annette (Abrahamson) Mitchell. He was raised on a farm near Sturgis and graduated from Sturgis Composite High School in 1954. Mitchell earned Bachelor of Arts (Economics) and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Saskatchewan in 1957 and 1959 respectively.

After graduation, Mitchell articled with a Regina law firm and was admitted to the Saskatchewan Bar in June, 1960. He practiced law in Swift Current and Regina until August, 1970. He then moved to Ottawa, Ontario to work for the Federal Government as Director of Legal Services with the Department of Regional Economic Expansion and Department of Labour. In 1974 he worked as a Labour Relations Expert with the International Labour Organization in the Caribbean. After returning to Saskatchewan and serving as Deputy Minister of Labour for Saskatchewan from 1974 to 1979, Mitchell practiced law and was a senior partner in Mitchell Taylor Romanow Ching, a Saskatoon law firm. He also served on various panels and boards as a consultant, mediator and negotiator. Mitchell was chairman of the Key Lake Board of Inquiry (1979-1980) and was the federal government's chief negotiator for Inuit land claims in the Central and Eastern Arctic (1981-1982).

Mitchell's involvement in provincial politics began in 1982, when he ran unsuccessfully as the New Democratic Party (NDP) candidate in the Saskatoon Fairview constituency. He was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in 1986 and served as the NDP member for Saskatoon Fairview until 1999.

Mitchell held various portfolios in the Roy Romanow Government, serving as Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment (1991-1992); Provincial Secretary (1991-1992); Minister of Justice and Attorney General (1991-1995); and Minister of Labour (1992). He resigned from Cabinet on February 20, 1995 and was reappointed on April 5, 1995. He served as Minister of Justice and Attorney General (1995); Minister of Post-Secondary Education and Skills Training (1995-1997); and Minister of Labour (1996-1998). He was also Minister Responsible for numerous agencies, boards and commissions, including the Saskatchewan Public Service Commission (1992-1995) and the Saskatchewan New Careers Corporation (1995-1997).

Mitchell resigned from Cabinet on September 21, 1998 and vacated his seat in the Legislative Assembly on January 18, 1999. Chris Axworthy (NDP) became MLA for Saskatoon Fairview in the June 28, 1999 by-election.

Mitchell became Chief Negotiator for the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) in 1999, and later was appointed police complaints investigator for Saskatchewan in 2004 and chair of the Saskatchewan Public Complaints Commission in 2009.

Robert Mitchell died on November 18, 2016.

Mitchell married Sandra Gail Stolson, a lawyer, on October 18, 1968. They had six children: Janet, Roberta, Stephanie, Shannon, Donna and Alison.

Conservação

Archival staff replaced the original file folders with acid-free folders and removed metal clips, elastic bands, and other fasteners. Large, unmanageable files were split into smaller parts. Newspaper clippings and facsimiles were photocopied.
