History
Rev. A. E. Elliott was born in Millbrook, Ontario on February 7, 1879. He graduated from Peterborough Collegiate Institute in 1895 and after teaching briefly in Ontario he graduated from the University of Toronto in 1905. In 1906 he moved to Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan to take position in a Methodist church, followed by appointments to the Rae Street Methodist Church in Regina from 1908 to 1911, a church in Grand Coulee from 1911 to 1915, and then the district of Drinkwater - Briercrest until 1919. In 1919 Elliott began farming near Dinsmore, but continued to preach at nearby Presbyterian churches. Thereafter he served churches in the Milden area between 1923 and 1934 and had a six-year term as a conference convenor of Christian education for the United Church of Canada in the province of Saskatchewan. In addition he spent thirteen (13) years serving the Sutherland - Cory charge of the United Church until 1947 when he moved to the Summerberry - Ellisboro area around Wolseley where he would work for 10 years. In 1966 he moved to Grenfell, where he acted as a substitute preacher. Rev. Elliott received an honorary doctor of divinity degree from St. Andrew's College at the University of Saskatchewan. He died on October 19, 1982 in Grenfell.
Rev. A. E. Elliott married Mabel May Johnston on May 26, 1909.
