History

Although plans were for the Saskatoon radio station CKOM to begin broadcasting in May 1951, its debut was delayed until June 8 1951. The station initially broadcast at a frequency of 1340 kHz with Robert (Bob) Hosie serving as principal owner and general manager, Bob Freeland manager, M. D. (Curly) Dyck sales manager, and Bill Frost chief engineer. In 1955, the station switched to 1420 kHz, and by 1965 it had changed to 1250 kHz and was operating with Robert A. Hosie as president and general manager and Robert H. Stovin was station manager and commercial manager. In 1985, Rawlco Radio Ltd. purchased the station and the broadcast frequency changed to 650 kHz. In September 1998, the format and personalities of CKOM-AM moved to its sibling station on the FM dial, while the AM station adopted a news-talk format as CINT-AM / 650 NTR [News/Talk Radio].
