Cairn erected in 1928 by Historic Sites and Monuments Board at Cumberland House. Noted on back of photo, "Looking N-NE at Historic Sites of Canada cairn at Cumberland House, erected 1928 to commemorate [the] establishment of Cumberland House by Samuel Hearne, in 1774, as first permanent interior post of the H[udson] B[ay] Company."
