History
Catherine Margaret Buckaway was born on July 7, 1919 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. She was raised and educated in the Glaslyn district. She married Edward Buckaway on April 1, 1941. The Buckaways spent the majority of their lives in Jansen, where Edward served as secretary-treasurer of the Rural Municipality of Prairie Rose No. 309. The Buckaways moved to Saskatoon in 1976.
Buckaway's career as a poet and author began around 1967. Her body of work included a large volume of published poems; a children's book entitled "Alfred the Dragon"; short stories and lyrics. Buckaway was a member of the Canadian Authors Association; the Haiku Society of America; and the League of Canadian Poets.
Buckaway died in Saskatoon on October 28, 1995. She was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon.
Buckaway and her husband had two children: Scarlett and Judy.
