Saskatchewan Roughrider Grey Cup Victory of 1966 Oral History Project

The first-ever Grey Cup victory of the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1966 had a tremendous impact upon the province. A holiday atmosphere prevailed for many months and the players were honoured in countless civic and community events. Recalling those days are former players, journalists and team administrators. The project was conducted as an exercise for a Journalism class at the University of Regina organized by lecturer Jill Spelliscy. Interviewers included Val McGregor; Barb Pacholik; Carolyn Sereda; Markus Schwake; Rob Vanstone; and Lisa Wilson. Textual documentation is also included.

Hockey players in Regina, Saskatchewan

Photographs of hockey players taken by Jacob Hahn of Regina, Saskatchewan. Hahn was employed as a shoemaker on 13th Avenue and was a volunteer trainer for hockey teams. Image nos. 1 to 13 show unidentified men, possibly members of the Regina Vic-Aces hockey team, standing next to a rail car, possibly embarking on a trip. Two of the men have Regina Aces and Weyburn Beavers decals on their jackets. Image nos. 14 to 25 show members of the Vag's hockey team, part of the Regina Park League; one of the Vag's team members may possibly be Johnny Hicke. Image nos. 26 to 27 are an unidentified group of junior hockey players; and image nos. 28 to 29 are unidentified members of a peewee hockey group.
