The United Services Institute (U.S.I.) of Regina, Saskatchewan was organised in 1919 and incorporated under The Companies Act on January 31, 1920. After the First World War, branches of the Great War Veterans Association (now the Royal Canadian Legion) and the United Services Institute were established across Canada. In Regina, a meeting was arranged for all servicemen living in the city on December 16, 1919 and by December 19, 1919 a branch of the United Services Institute was organised. The first president elected was Brigadier-General Embury.
The U.S.I. is a fee-based members only club for servicemen. All members are male officers or ex-officers of: Her Majesty's Regular or Reserve Naval, Military or Air Force; the Royal Canadian Mounted Police; an Allied Foreign Power; or cadet of a Royal Naval, Military or Air Force. Since its inception in 1919, many dignitaries have been awarded honourary membership in the U.S.I.
The United Services Institute maintains facilities for members use, including meeting halls; banquet rooms; a mess hall; a library and a games room and serves as a venue for former servicemen to socialise. Annual functions are also sponsored by the U.S.I. as fundraisers.
In 1979, the United Services Institute of Regina received Royal designation from Queen Elizabeth II, and the organisational name became the Royal United Services Institute of Regina.
