Architectural Heritage Society of Saskatchewan

The Architectural Heritage Society of Saskatchewan Inc. was established in 1987 (as Saskatchewan Architectural Heritage Society) to promote and preserve the province’s architectural heritage; to educate and increase the public’s knowledge about Saskatchewan’s architectural heritage and encourage its preservation; to collect and disseminate information on Saskatchewan’s architectural heritage; to recognize those who conserve and promote architectural heritage through presentation of appropriate awards; and to offer and present grants that will assist in preserving architectural heritage. The Society published a periodical entitled "Worth" (previously "Facade" and "Heritage Quarterly") and administers the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Heritage Architecture Excellence Awards. The Society received funding from SaskCulture until 2014. As of 2022 AHSS is inactive.

Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame, 1972-

The Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame (SAHF) began as a Saskatchewan Homecoming '71 project. The project was originally proposed by Gary Carlson, executive director of the Saskatchewan Federation of Agriculture. It was incorporated under the Societies Act on June 8, 1972. The founding member organizations were the Saskatchewan Agricultural Graduates Association, the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists, the Saskatchewan Federation of Agriculture, the Saskatchewan Museums Association, the Saskatchewan Section of the National Farmers Union, and the Western Development Museum. The Hall of Fame is located at the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon.

The purpose of the SAHF is "to formally and publicly recognize persons who, in the course of their residence in Saskatchewan, made a significant and outstanding contribution to the welfare and improvement of agriculture, and to a better way of life for the farm family." The Hall of Fame's activities include researching nominees, locating funding, commissioning pencil drawings of inductees, and arranging the induction ceremony. The first induction ceremony was held on July 11, 1972.

The Board consists of a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25 directors, including both representatives of member organizations and directors-at-large representing the general public. There is also an executive consisting of a chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary, treasurer, and a chairperson of the induction committee. The organization currently (2012) continues to operate from its office at 2610 Lorne Avenue South in Saskatoon.

The North-east Assiniboia Agricultural Society was renamed the Churchbridge Agricultural Society on December 7, 1907, and came under the provisions of the Agricultural Societies Act (S.S. 1909, c. 112) in 1909.

The Kinbrae and Little Cut Arm Farming Society, founded in 1883, was incorporated as the North-east Assiniboia Agricultural Society in 1888, under the Agricultural Society Ordinance (1886). The North-east Assiniboia Agricultural Society was renamed the Churchbridge Agricultural Society on December 7, 1907, and came under the provisions of the Agricultural Societies Act (S.S. 1909, c. 112) in 1909. The Society's mandate was to support agricultural developments in the area. It was governed by an eleven-member Board of Directors, which included a six-member executive.

The Society hosted agricultural fairs and competitions, held meetings to distribute information about agricultural developments, and was involved in the administration of pest control efforts and provincial ordinances.

The Agricultural Societies Act under which the organization was registered was repealed effective May 17, 2007. As the Churchbridge Agricultural Society did not re-register under another Act, its registration by the Corporations Branch was cancelled October 2, 2008.
