Nelson Bird of CTV Television Inc., Regina, donated this item to the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan in one accession in 2001: R2001-230 (July 24, 2001).

Scope and content

A two-part series produced by CTV Television Inc. chronicling the experiences of Canada First Nations World War II veterans both during the war and after their return to Canada. Produced, written and directed by Nelson Bird and Norman Shuttleworth and narrated by Nelson Bird. Executive producer was Gerald MacLeod; photography by Gord Barnett; graphics by Nicole Bogdan; editor was Brian Wehrley. The episodes aired on September 24 and October 1, 2000. The series includes archival footage and photographs; footage shot in the Netherlands; and interviews with various individuals as follows: Philip Favel; Raymond Laplante; Henry Beaudry; Gerald Bird; Howard Anderson; Sidney Gordon; Charlie Umperville; Tonny Hanekamp; Fredrik Noordhuis; Perry Bellegarde; James Dempsey; Bruce Guptall; Line Pare.
