Custodial history
Miriam Hoffer, daughter of Abram Hoffer, donated some of these records to the Saskatchewan Archives, in one accession in 2009: 2009-694 (March 22, 2009).
Scope and content
This series consists mainly of correspondence between Dr. Abram Hoffer and other physicians around the world. The correspondence, both incoming and outgoing, is arranged alphabetically by correspondent's surname and is divided into three categories: A-1; A-2; and A-3. "A-1" correspondence is with physicians who have illness, like schizophrenia, within their own families. Most often these physicians are seeking Hoffer's treatment advice or assistance. "A-2" correspondence is with doctors practicing orthomolecular medicine or psychiatry who are typically requesting technical advice. "A-3" correspondence is with physicians who are requesting general information regarding orthomolecular medicine or psychiatry.
Included are original index cards with doctors' names and addresses arranged in alphabetical order and photographs mainly of Dr. Hoffer and other physicians that were forwarded to Hoffer along with the correspondence.
