Search Tips

Search by Land Description

You can search the homestead records using the land description. The search uses the township, range or meridian, and can use one, two, or all three of these search fields.

Example: A legal land description looks like this "NW-14-26-4-W2": and this is how the description is broken down:

NW

14

26

4

W2

Quarter

Section

Township

Range

Meridian

Search land descriptions (use one, two, or all of the fields)

  • Township values must begin with "Tp." and a space, followed by 3 digits; add one or two zeroes ("0") in front of your number if necessary. Example "Tp. 003" or Tp. "021".
  • Range values must begin with "Rg." and a space, followed by 2 digits; add one zero ("0") in front of your number if necessary. Example "Rg. 03".
  • Meridian values must begin with "W" followed by a digit. Example "W3"
  • Leave blank any value that does not have to be searched.
